What is the Innovation Village?
Taking place within Smart Factory Expo, the Innovation Village is an immersive and interactive demonstration area that takes visitors on a journey from fossil fuels to renewables, showcasing the technological advances and capabilities for transforming industry for a sustainable world.
The Innovation Village is being run by the MTC alongside the seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult research and technology centres across the UK and demonstrates the latest thinking and technologies associated with sustainability and industrial transformation.
THE INNOVATION VILLAGE
When you enter the Innovation Village, you first learn about the workforce revolution, including the need to upskill and train both new and existing employees. A sustainable future starts with a sustainable workforce, so this is an important first step on the overall journey.
Next comes the core digital transformation section, covering robotics, automation, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and more. Technology and knowledge experts from the HVMC member organisations are available to showcase some of the products, services and technologies that fit in with the digital transformation theme.
The focus then reverts to sustainability once more, with a specific emphasis on the industrial sectors that HVMC research centres work with; agritech, automotive, aerospace, construction, pharmaceuticals and more.
Finally, a spotlight on the crucial areas of power and energy, where visitors learn about alternative fuel sources including solar, wind, hydrogen and nuclear, as well as electrification, battery technologies, charging solutions, small modular reactors and more.
Most importantly, visitors learn that they need not navigate these journeys alone. Significant support is available for businesses who want to take advantage of it. This is particularly important for SME manufacturers who can really benefit from extra help and guidance.
